Fan I Am: Hyperreal Fandom and Parody
Here it is (finally), the lecture given on Inspector Spacetime and fandom at NIU this past Friday.
Although he got a few things wrong (the second clip was from Christmas, not Chaos theory; amount of gay Inspectors, etc.) this was very interesting. Sometimes I feel like people get the fandom wrong- if only because there are so many interpretations within Inspector Spacetime and we are constantly changing and adjusting and adding and removing what is canon -but this felt pretty on point.

I know some followers expressed interest in this, so I thought I’d share the notes I took. (I know I have a couple other write-ups to complete, but I’d like to get this one done while it’s fresh in my mind, lest I am unable to read my sloppy notes.)
I’m presenting some of the details slightly out of order from when they were discussed, simply because it’s easier to synthesize my notes in an organized manner by doing so.
